How to search the catalog and use Cathopic preview URLs

Last updated: 3 months ago

Use GET /api/v2/catalog with catalog.read. It uses Cathopic's existing typo-tolerant fuzzy search layer and hydrates the same canonical media models used by the website grid.

Parameters

  • q or query: text up to 250 characters.

  • type: photo, video, graphic, artwork, ai, or all.

  • orientation: landscape, portrait, square, or all.

  • sort: most_recent, popular, or popular_alltime.

  • page, per_page up to 50, and locale.

GET /api/v2/catalog?q=adoration&type=photo&orientation=landscape&per_page=30
Authorization: Bearer ACCESS_TOKEN

Use preview URLs unchanged

Each result includes preview.url and preview.transformation_url_template. They come from the exact same grid presenter, CDN host, storage path, and watermark rules used on cathopic.com. Use them unchanged so integrations reuse the existing Cloudflare cache keys.

  • Do not upload another copy or proxy it unnecessarily.

  • Do not add cache-busting query parameters.

  • Replace <OPTIONS> only with stable Cloudflare image options.

Previews never consume a download. already_licensed includes individual and shared-team entitlements.
