Do connected apps use my downloads, and how do I disconnect them?

Last updated: 3 months ago

Searching and displaying watermarked previews never consumes a download. A download may be consumed only when a connected application asks Cathopic to license a paid resource.

When one download is consumed

  • The resource is paid, the plan includes its type, and neither you nor the current team subscription has licensed it before.

  • The plan has a limited balance. Unlimited plans record the license without reducing a number.

  • The original file is available. Cathopic verifies this before changing the balance.

When no additional download is consumed

  • The resource is free.

  • You or another member using the same team subscription already licensed it.

  • You request a new download link for an existing license.

  • The application retries the same request with the same idempotency key.

Team members consume the team owner's shared balance. Cathopic is always the source of truth.

Disconnect an application

  1. Open Settings → Developer / API → Connected apps.

  2. Review the application and its permissions.

  3. Click Disconnect and confirm.

Every active access and refresh token for that application is revoked immediately. Existing licenses and download history remain.
